What Boss Level do
Boss Level create games. Specifically we create multi-player, multi-platform games. You can play our games with your friends and family, via your PC at work, your mobile phone on the bus and your TV at home, with all of your data stored online.
Our games are built around HTML5 ensuring rapid rollout to any web capable platform with no plug-ins required. We utilise the latest “cloud” technologies to service tens of thousands of concurrent multiplayer connections whilst retaining high performance.
We’re passionate about the video games industry, the explosive growth it’s seeing and the possibilities offered as a medium for expression, social interaction and learning.
The Boss Level ethos
Well, let’s start with the name. A “boss” is usually the toughest enemy you’ll face in a video game and when you come to fight them (during a “boss battle” or “boss level”), you'll find that the pace of the action is ratcheted up and everything is generally bigger and better. At the same time, to create a truly memorable boss battle/denouement to the game, the game design also needs to be smarter and better (and not just a big guy in a big courtyard).
We chose the name because it defines the style and approach we’re seeking to take. The big difference though is that we want to do this throughout our games and not just at the end. If you still don’t get it, here’s a quote:
If you want a much more in-depth idea of what we’re aiming for, then check out this excellent article by the creator of Canabalt (an innovative Indie game) — it was written completely independently of Boss Level yet when we read it, we thought:
Who Boss Level are

Nick Brown — CEO, Founder
Nick has over 15 years experience in the creation, use and monetisation of disruptive technologies in the connected web and mobile space. Having worked in technical, sales and managerial roles for blue-chip organisations, the venture capital community and a number of high profile start-ups, in founding Boss Level he’s finally “got serious” and acknowledged his 30-year love affair with digital gaming. Nick has an Honours degree in Law from Cambridge University and rather unsurprisingly admits to playing far too many computer games in his spare time.
Mike Ridgway — Chairman
Mike has been involved in the IT and Telecommunications industry for over 20 years and from the outset has exhibited a canny ability to identify winning opportunities and then capitalise on them. He has led companies through exponential growth and orchestrated public listings on both the NASDAQ and the TSX. In addition to his “hands on” operational leadership Mike has extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions, and contract negotiations. Mike freely admits to knowing nothing about games so it’s perhaps just as well that he’s so good at everything else.
We are currently looking to bring on more developers; more information is available on the Work with Boss Level page.

Then we may well be the employer for you
Please note that experience is NOT a requirement; if you’re a student or never had a job before, please don’t be put off (we can train you on the job). However it would help if you can demonstrate an affinity with what we do e.g. you’ve built a game or website in your spare time.
